"Galvanic Soap" by Patty Smith |
I lied to you. But it was only a sin of omission.
Fish Don't Sleep isn't exactly the only blog I know that features screamingly funny and dead-on true conversations with real people. It's a photo finish--literally--between FDS and Conversations with the Disabled Guy.
The mad genius behind CDG is an acid-tongued, huge-hearted, psychic mom of three named Patty. The Disabled Guy is her husband, Jerry. I've been following Patty's comments and blog since I was a punk kid in bloomers enjoying the snide whackery on Regretsy. Which started a year ago, and continues daily.
Where's the money angle, you ask? I will tell you. I put before you today two great and completely unrelated causes, a near and a far.
Cause The First: Turns out Patty is a stunning photographer, and Jerry's no artistic slouch himself. Visit The Disabled Guy's store at etsy today, and you could own a beautiful handcrafted birdhouse by Jerry or a photo by Patty like the image gracing this post, which is MINE, ALL MINE. Proceeds benefit the youngest DG progeny as she raises funds for her orchestra's trip to New York City.
Cause the Second: Regretsy has raised more than $13,000 for charity since its inception, often for cancer-related causes and always for individuals who receive every penny you donate directly. Starting today at 9:30 a.m. PST and going every half-hour until 8:00 p.m. tonight, Regretsy will auction off some of the world's most hideous and terrifying headgear just in time for Halloween to benefit the world's most adorable child who deserves better, a five-year-old boy named Aidan. Follow his blog if you dare.
I encourage you to do what I do, and count any money you give to charity as effective money toward saving. Because you are, you know. You are saving.
Nice! I'll check out the blogs...and you know I'll be watching the headgear : )
